Our goal is to provide a place where boys and girls, families and adults can experience the joy of life in Christ, in community and in the heart of His Creation.

Information

The story of Camp Gilead began in 1948 with a shared vision and a historic gift of land. Elma Jenkins Faul, moved by a deep heart for ministry, donated 26 acres of her familyโ€™s farmland along the Snoqualmie River to be used for Godโ€™s kingdom. Her prayer was that this riverfront property would become a place where young people could hear the Gospel and experience the life-changing love of Jesus Christ. To carry this vision forward, a dedicated group of foundersโ€”led by Forrest Johnsonโ€”established the Gilead Baptist Camp Association.

Today, nearly 80 years later, situated in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains on the banks of the beautiful Snoqualmie River, we continue that mission by offering a wide variety of recreational facilities and theme-oriented activities. Our friendly, trained staff provide quality leadership and instruction, ensuring that every program offers a unique opportunity for young people to learn more about the Lord Jesus Christ and their relationship with Him. From the first summer of camping in 1951 to the vibrant year-round ministry, it is today, Camp Gilead remains a place of rest, recreation, and spiritual restoration where generations of families come to know the Creator in the heart of His creation.

Meet our Staff

    Registrar |
    saramoyer@campgilead.org

Jack and Sara have been the heartbeat of Camp Gilead for over 40 years, dedicated to the mission of evangelism and discipleship through Christian camping. Jack first joined the leadership team as Program Director in 1982 before stepping into his current role as Camp Director, while Sara serves faithfully as the Camp Registrar and a welcoming first point of contact for families. After raising their six children on the camp grounds, they continue to see their familyโ€™s story unfold in the Snoqualmie Valley through their eight grandchildren. Jack affectionately refers to the grandkids as his "apprentices," and they can often be found assisting with odd jobs and projects around the camp. Together, the Moyers remain passionate about providing every camper with "the best week of their lives" in a Christ-centered environment.

  • Aaron & Elizabeth Montalvo

    Program Director | aaron@campgilead.org
    Associate Program Director | elizabeth@campgilead.org

Aaron and Elizabeth Montalvo are a dynamic team dedicated to the mission of Camp Gilead. Aaronโ€™s history with the camp began as a summer staff member, where he served in both counselor and program roles before officially joining the full-time leadership as Program Director. Elizabethโ€™s journey at Gilead includes years as a faithful intern, culminating in her vital service as the Interim Program Director during the summer of 2025. Now serving as the Associate Program Director alongside Aaron, Elizabeth continues to bring her experience and heart for ministry to the campโ€™s seasonal programming. After marrying in late 2023, the couple settled into life on the grounds, where they are now raising their son, August. Together, they are excited to honor the legacy of those who came before them while helping to shape the future of the ministry for a new generation of campers.

  • Josh Mallory

    Maintenance - josh@campgilead.org

Josh Mallory has been an integral part of the Camp Gilead team since 1999, transitioning from a summer staff role as the first dirtboard instructor to his long-standing position as Maintenance Director. Josh oversees the care and stewardship of the campโ€™s facilities, ensuring the grounds are always a welcoming space for guests to experience Godโ€™s creation. He shares a deep family history with the camp alongside his late wife, Kimberly Mallory, who served faithfully for many years as the campโ€™s Program Director. Having raised their family on the camp grounds, Josh remains dedicated to the ministry they built together and finds great joy in his roles as a father and grandfather. He continues to find purpose in maintaining the property where so many lives are impacted for Christ.

  • Christina Barnts

    Camp Cook - christina@campgilead.org

Christina finds her greatest joy in serving others, a calling she fulfills daily through her incredible cooking. As a dedicated mom raising five children right here at Camp Gilead, she lives out her faith with energy and a smile. Her work is guided by her favorite scripture: โ€œRejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances.โ€ (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

A Note from the Director

We are looking forward to another great summer of seeing young peopleโ€™s lives touched and changed through their camp experience at Camp Gilead. It is our goal and mission to provide each camper with a safe and fun week. We strive to provide a Christ like model through each staff member, opportunities to learn from Godโ€™s Word, as well as an extremely fun week of activities for each camper. We consider it our privilege to be able to minister to you and your children throughout the camp week and look forward to seeing you this summer!
